A little more disappointed with this series than with the previous one, but having said that, the place had much less grandeur and power than the eight buildings of Terre d'Asile, so it makes a little sense somewhere. All the same, I've managed to pull out a handful of clichés that I like, and others that I don't like so much, but which are part of my approach to the visual description of dead places. An approach from which I confess I'm increasingly inclined to distance myself. In fact, I like to set the scene in my photos, to create little stories in addition to the usual interplay of textures and hues, which explains the growing proportion of "portraits". And I put this term in quotation marks, because not all the photos in which I appear are portraits. The location for this series was a little unusual. It was a village that had been built for whatever reason, then the project was abandoned along the way and the village was left abandoned. The architecture is clearly peculiar and has nothing to do with what is done locally. Many of the fake buildings are actually made of wood and polystyrene, and it's really quite a mirage of a village, more reminiscent of a film set that no one would have undone than something that was intended to house people or stores. The whole thing is coupled with long sheds, as always made up with tags and frescoes of all kinds. One of which I found quite imposing, on the theme of Alice in Wonderland.
