I'm back from my short stay at Saniss's, and while I was there he and I took the opportunity to go for a walk on his hill, in relation to my hike last time. I took quite a few photographs, perhaps less clumsily than last time. I'm beginning to understand my camera "a little" better, and that's helping me to get a result - photographs that are for the most part close to what I wanted them to be, without retouching. That's the direction I'd like to go in now, because I was tired both of my old way of doing things and of the way people treated my old way of doing things. In fact, I'd reached a stage where I didn't take photographs any more, not because I didn't like them, but because I was fed up with what other people would say about them. I know it's stupid. Anyway, here are these photographs. Most of them are not retouched, or retouched so lightly that you wouldn't know the difference; a few are a little more retouched, but it doesn't matter in the sense that I don't function in the same way anymore, and the word "retouch" doesn't have the same value or weight. I don't know, I don't feel illegitimate doing it and if you think I shouldn't honestly I don't give a damn. I've been fed up long enough with not being able to enjoy what I do; for once I've enjoyed taking my hiking photos, let me have that at least.
