As me and my wife are both vegans, we cherish animals deeply and have tried to help, foster, feed or rescue the ones we've encountered along the way. Some of them ended up staying with us forever and becoming part of our family, by choice or by fate, but either way it brought us incredible happiness. So here is my shrine to them, in addition to the Nature page.
Another like Iris in a long standing tradition of little adorable tornadoes, but Lilly is on another level of cuteness altogether. She’s been such a loving and cuddling cat from day 0, always looking for you, playing, and YES CHAOS but you can’t stay mad at her even a second with her droopy eyes :3
Like her infamous predecessors Pucki and Kuma, she’s the latest in a long line of adorable weirdos that don’t always work like other cats but whose love you feel all the same if not more. Hedda for example loves to just lick random parts of you, sometimes in a good way sometimes not, sometimes out of curiosity sometimes to try to eat you? sometimes cause she’s happy, it’s a whole language! But she’s very loving and playful and despite having had to have her tail removed which sometimes messes with her balance or make her walk weird, she’s just like any other lovely furry goofball
He is the love of our lives, the last of Kimyo’s family to be with us. He was always the scaredy lil momma’s cat of the runt, and as he grew he became more and more closer to us since his actual momma didn’t have the energy. As the rest of his family went on to better adventures he stayed back with his moms, like he always did, and we will never let him go now
When Tixie died it broke all our hearts but particularly my dad’s who had gotten really accustomed to his hiking partner and his company when he would go up to his mountain home to work. So eventually because we all missed the presence too much, came along this bundle of love. She still hikes bravely with my father to this day
A lil sleepyhead if there ever was one, and she loves to play alone and not be bothered much overall. She’s still very friendly and will come ask for pets but only on its own terms otherwise she’ll “miii” the most adorable sounds to make you stop
When we got her she hid for weeks and we couldn’t for the life of us figure out where but we know she came out to eat when we were asleep. Eventually we found the hiding spot and were able to slowly start to heal her trauma but it was a long road.
What it lead to though is the cutest nicest most adorable cat you could meet and we love her with all our hearts. Hope she finds a family able to give as much love as she needs as she's still a bit scaredy at time but when she trusts she's a beautiful goofy angel.
Our first foster cat and my god what a ball of demonic thunder energy wrapped in 300% cuteness. She was incredibly tiring but so so cute and nice, she was a lovely lil terror that adored attacking everything and sprinting everywhere. We found her a home but even the handing over was a nightmare that required three people 😅 a true raptor
An adooorable little cutie that was brought to us to save by some kids, since we were the cat lesbians of the neighbourhood. Named after her Cleopatra like eye wings. We took care of her for a few weeks and then helped her find a home 🏠
She was the best of times, she was the worst of times. Our first cat as a couple with my wife, and she unfortunately didn’t have an easy start as we really struggled and were depressed at the time, we weren’t always the happiest parents. We still loved her and her us.
Later in life she got quite mean though as we moved a few times and got more cats, and she never recovered from it fully, sometimes even randomly attacking me very violently. She was a cat with a few health issues and ultimately those took her from us in the winter after months of trying various things to save her in vain, which was incredibly hard.
A rescue that kept escaping its first foster home to constantly chill on our garden. We ended up adopting the adorable orange brain cell and kept him with us for years.
He was a really weird cat that almost never showed love but he was happy and playful. We had to ultimately leave him in France when we left… with the family he had already began squatting more than us.
The black panther of our trio, he was always an adorable mix of the character of the other two while at the same time being his own cat. He was very vocal which unfortunately he taught to the rest. He was sooo adorable and when we lost the first of them we really put a lot of love on him and he gave it back fully. Unfortunately that also meant it broke our heart all the more when he too was taken from us, this time by some fucking asshole in a car. It remains one of the worst things to happen to us in recent years and I still cry just writing this
She was the bravest, kindest and most beautiful of the trio, and instantly became our darling. She was a bit the leader of the pack, always bringing the gang into adventures outside, or going herself into long times on her own.
We loved her so much that we screamed “MY LOOVEE” in the house whenever she would come up either of us, and so when one day she left and never came back it broke our heart. I hope she went on many more adventures.
A small little kitten we found abandoned near our home and that looked malnourished and lost. We adopted her but she was actually secretly pregnant and gave birth to three perfect babies we kept and raised with all our love.
Eventually she left to do our own thing while we kept her kids as she never managed to become a real mom, she was pregnant too young and wasn't ready for it. We’ll always miss her but wished her a good life.
She was my family’s cat for a long while when I was a kid, and she had two kids who I also grew up with for a few years but that unfortunately both died before her from Life™. She was never quite the same after birthing them and the sterilisation, in a way she prepared me for how these kind of events can shake and change a cat, although her health issues towards the end didn’t help as she struggled a bit with things but still showed a lot of love
